PURPOSE, POWER, AND PROMISE
By Synthia Esther
PURPOSE
The purpose within the heart of a Christian is to pursue peace with all people, and to strive to live life holy and pure (1st Thessalonians 4:7). Without holiness no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many (Hebrews 12:14-15). The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever (1 John 2:17). As we call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and search for it as for hidden treasure, then we will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God (Proverbs 2:3-5). Our purposeful journey is one of “sacred pursuit” and Jesus declares our mandate, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you" (John 20:21).
"Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation" - (Mark 16:15)
POWER
The same powerful spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells within the heart of every believer (Romans 8:11). And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws (Ezekiel 36:27).
PROMISE
God promises to reward those who:
-
seek him through prayer, fasting and faith (Matthew 6:6, Hebrews 1:6)
-
follow him by means of self-denial to his service (Matthew 16:24-27)
-
submit to their empower as a faithful steward (Matthew 24:45-47, Ephesians 6:8, Colossians 3:22-24)
-
serve those in need (Mark 9:41)
-
suffer for his name and reputation (Luke 6:22-23)
-
make sacrifices for him (Luke 6:35, Matthew 19:29)
-
share of your time, talent, and treasure in doing good deeds in secret to further the Kingdom of God.
"IF WE ENDURE, WE WILL ALSO REIGN WITH HIM” – 2ND TIMOTHY 2:12
Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done (Revelation 22:12). In Christ Jesus we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace (Ephesians 1:7). If we endure, we will also reign with him (2 Timothy 2:12).
